The 6th grade Literacy Extension class is asking for the approval to use The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne in their classrooms.  The book would be used to teach a muliticultural unit on overcoming adversity.  In accordance with school board policy, the book, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, will be available for parents to preview in the library at Shadow Ridge for the next two weeks.

Los exámenes de Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers  (PARCC) son durante los meses de primavera.  Las puntuaciones de PARCC ayudan a determinar la ubicación en clases futuras durante los años en la escuela media y de preparatoria, así como también es un punto de referencia en la determinación de necesidades y habilidades instructivas.  El miembro  de PARCC comparte la declaración de esta meta fundamental: el asegurar que cada estudiante se gradué de la preparatoria preparado para tener éxito en la universidad y en su empleo.  Es extremadamente importante que su niño asista y este a tiempo todos los días de los exámenes de PARCC. Although we have just started 2015, the month of February is full of various important events.  We have parent/teacher conferences, an in-service day, and a national holiday.

Our opportunity to meet with parents/guardians is very important.  We look forward to spending time with each of you regarding your child.  If you do not attend a conference on Wednesday, February 11^th   or Thursday, February 12^th, please remember the channels of communication with your child’s teacher (email or voicemail).  Please continue checking student progress on Infinite Campus (IC).

The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers  (PARCC) is throughout the spring months.  The PARCC scores help determine placement in future classes during the middle and high school years, as well as a reference point in determining instructional needs and abilities.  The PARCC member states share this fundamental goal: ensuring that every student graduates from high school prepared for success in college and the workplace.  It is extremely important that your child is in attendance and on time every day of PARCC testing.  Please talk with your child about the importance of PARCC.  Many research studies have indicated student success starts off with a healthy breakfast.   Please make sure your child has breakfast every morning of testing.
